Project Objective: Once a year Sales throws an exclusive party event for clients with a unique theme. They wanted a stand-out party invitation that can be mailed, plus a takeaway reminder at the trade show. The theme was rock/blues.
Project Solution: After multiple explorations, a mini record and sleeve was chosen. The sleeve is designed using black matte paper with spot varnish applied to the words, for a black-on-black subtlety. The cyan highlights are a gloss foil. The record uses heavy stock paper and a rare thermography technique was used for the raised "music" lines. A second takeaway coaster was designed to be handed out at the trade show as a ticket to the party.
Logistically, when our preferred printer was offering expensive solutions and struggling with technical elements, I reached out to a printer I worked with in the past resulting in a successful print production, on-time delivery, and award-winning design.
Project Result: My design resulted in 100+ more booth visits and 132 more party attendees than the prior year. My change in printers helped save $3,500 (falling below budget).
